The New York Rangers will be going up against the Florida Panthers on Wednesday night in a game between two of the better defenses in the Eastern Conference.

During the 2013-14 season, the Rangers were able to win all three of their games against the Panthers. Their most lopsided win came in Florida in their second meeting when they were able to rout the Panthers 5-2. Both of the other games were decided by one goal.

Panthers' goalie Roberto Luongo has a 7-12-2 record against the Rangers in his career with two shutouts, a 2.83 GAA and a .915 save percentage. Center Jussi Jokinen has seven goals and four assists in 25 career games against New York, while right wing Jimmy Hayes hasn't been able to record a point in his three games against them.

The Rangers scored two first-period goals against the Dallas Stars on Monday, but they is all they would get as they ended up being defeated 3-2 on the road. They didn't play poorly in the game, but they were beaten 36-30 at the faceoff dot.

So far this year, the Rangers are in the top 10 in the NHL in both scoring and goals against per game. Through 34 games, left wing Rick Nash has been able to score 23 goals and is near the top of the league in points with 36.
