Second-year winger Nail Yakupov hasn't had as great of a season as most Edmonton Oilers' fans expected, but he was the hero in a 2-1 win over the New York Rangers the last time these two teams played each other. The game was tight and looked like it was going to go to overtime until the young Yakupov was able to get the Oilers a much needed win late in the period.

Ryan Smyth was the first to score in the February 6th matchup after being set up by teammate David Perron early in the first period. The second goal of the game came from the Rangers' Derick Brassard, who was able to get his 11th of the season just 22 seconds into the second period.

After some good defense and nice saves by both goaltenders, Yakupov scored his 11th of the season with just over a minute and a half remaining in the game. Sam Gagner was able to find Yakupov after some sloppy play from the Rangers, and Yakupov one-timed it past Cam Talbot.

Ben Scrivens had one of his better games of the season in this one, stopping 35 of the 36 shots he faced and keeping the visitors in the game throughout. Talbot didn't have a bad game either, keeping 29 of the Oilers' 31 shots out of the back of the net.
