On Monday night, the New York Rangers will try to improve upon their 7-5-1 road record when they visit the Dallas Stars. During the 2013-14 season, the Rangers were able to win both of their games against the Stars.

The Rangers extended their season-long winning streak to eight games on Saturday night when they beat the New Jersey Devils 3-1 at home. Center Derek Stepan was the player of the game in that win by notching his third career hat trick.

Through 33 games this season, the Rangers are in the top five in the league in scoring by averaging three goals per game. Left wing Rick Nash has been one of the top players in the NHL this season by scoring 23 goals and providing 13 assists to his teammates. Veteran goalie Henrik Lundqvist now has a 16-7-3 record with five shutouts, a 2.38 GAA and a .914 save percentage.

The Stars have now won five out of their last six games after beating the St. Louis Blues 4-3 on Saturday night. They did well on the power play in that win, scoring on two out of their four opportunities with the extra man.

So far this season, the Stars have one of the worst goals against averages and are in the bottom half of the league in power play percentage. Center Tyler Seguin has been by far their top offensive player by notching 25 goals and 18 assists in just 34 games.
