On March 7th, the Carolina Hurricanes hosted the New York Rangers. The Rangers were able to win this one 4-2 behind a furious third period in which the Rangers scored four goals. This victory just adds to the total as the Rangers are 10-0 over their last 10 games versus the Hurricanes. This game started behind Jordan Staal's top shelf wrister to put the Hurricanes up 1-0 at the 17:49 mark of the first period. It was Staal's 12th goal on the season.

Fast forward to the third period, Carolina was on a power play when Ryan McDonagh scored for the Rangers shorthanded. The assist went to Rick Nash. Jeff Skinner scored on a penalty shot behind Anton Stralman's hooking penalty. This put the Hurricanes back up 2-1.

Rick Nash followed that up with a goal with under seven minutes left to play in the third. Derek Stepan was next to score on a five on three power play goal. It was Stepan's 11th goal on the season. To cap off the night, Carl Hagelin finished off the Hurricanes with a goal with under a minute to go in the game.
