On Friday night, the New York Rangers will be visiting the Buffalo Sabres, who will be playing the last game of their three-game homestand. The Rangers were able to win all three of their games against the Sabres last season.

The Rangers snapped their three-game losing streak on Wednesday by shutting out the Philadelphia Flyers 2-0 on home ice. Backup goalie Cam Talbot was excellent in that win, stopping all 28 of the shots he faced.

Left wing Rick Nash has been the Rangers' top offensive threat by scoring 13 goals and assisting on seven others. Center Derick Brassard has six goals and 15 points through 19 games, while number one goalie Henrik Lundqvist is 7-5-3 on the year with a 2.68 GAA and a .910 save percentage.

On Tuesday, the Sabres scored three goals in the second period against the San Jose Sharks and came away with a 4-1 home win. They won that game despite going 0-for-2 on the power play and being outshot 30-14.

Through 17 games, the Sabres are near the bottom of the league in both goals per game (1.6) and goals against per game (3.4). Goalie Michal Neuvirth has had a decent start to the season by going 3-5-1 with a 2.85 GAA and a .920 save percentage. Right wing Drew Stafford is tied for the team lead in points with 12, but he also has a plus/minus of -12.
