The New York Islanders, who have won 10 of their 18 games away from home this season, will be visiting the Winnipeg Jets on Wednesday night. In their first meeting of the season, the Jets were able to beat the Islanders 4-3 on the road.

On Monday night, the Islanders gave up three goals in the third period of their game against the Washington Capitals, but they were still able to come away with a 4-3 overtime win. They were 2-for-7 on the power play in that win and ended up with a 39-26 shooting advantage.

The Islanders have one of the worst penalty kills in the league, but they are in the top 10 in the league in scoring. Center John Tavares has scored 15 goals this season and is currently tied for the team lead in points with 32. Netminder Jaroslav Halak has a 19-6-0 record this year with three shutouts and a .917 save percentage.

The Jets had their two-game winning streak snapped on Monday when the Minnesota Wild beat them 3-2 in Winnipeg. The Jets lost despite going 2-for-3 on the power play and finishing with 30 shots on goal.

Through 37 games, the Jets have one of the better defenses in the league, but they are scoring less than 2.5 goals per game. Right wing Blake Wheeler has scored 11 goals this season and is tied for the team lead in points with 27.
