On Saturday night, the New York Islanders will visit the Tampa Bay Lightning in a game that will feature two of the best offenses in the league.

Last season, the Lighting were able to win two out of their three games against Islanders, including one on the road. Tampa Bay may have had the wins advantage, but the series was very close, with all three games going into the shootout.

Islanders center John Tavares has 18 points in his 17 career games against the Lightning, while veteran Frans Nielsen has three goals and 10 assists against them in 23 games. Netminder Jaroslav Halak has only faced Tampa Bay four times in his career, going 2-2-0 against them with a 2.80 GAA and a .891 save percentage.

The Lightning lost their second straight game on Thursday when they were beaten 2-1 by the San Jose Sharks on home ice. They had 10 giveaways in that loss and they ended up being outshot 39-33. The one player who played well was goalie Ben Bishop, who finished with a .949 save percentage in the losing effort.

Through 17 games, the Lightning are near the top of the league in scoring with 3.5 goals scored per game. Center Steven Stamkos has led the way with his 11 goals and seven assists, while Tyler Johnson leads the team in assists with 13. Bishop is now 9-2-2 with a 2.37 GAA.
