The New York Islanders will head out on the road on Thursday night to take on the St. Louis Blues, who have won 10 of their 14 home games this year. These two teams played each other just last week, when the Blues came away with a 6-4 win in New York.

On Tuesday, the Islanders gave up four third-period goals to the Minnesota Wild and lost 5-4 on the road. They did score four goals in that loss, but they were also outshot 30-19.

The Islanders are currently in the top five in the NHL in scoring with three goals per game. Their top offensive contributor has been center John Tavares, who now has 11 goals and 14 assists in 28 games played.

The Blues picked up their second win in a row on Monday night when they beat the Florida Panthers 4-2 at home. They took advantage of their power play chances in that win, scoring on three out of their five opportunities with the extra man.

So far this year, the Blues have had one of the best defenses in the Western Conference by only allowing 2.3 goals per game. Right wing Vladimir Tarasenko has had a great start to the year by notching 17 goals and 13 assists in just 28 games. Netminder Jake Allen has won eight of his 13 games this season and currently owns a .908 save percentage.
