On Tuesday night, the New York Islanders will look to get back on the winning track when they go up against the Minnesota Wild. During the 2013-14 season, the Islanders and the Wild split their two-game regular season series.

In their game against the St. Louis Blues on Saturday, the Islanders gave up three goals in the second and third periods to the St. Louis Blues and lost 6-4 at home. Their penalty kill had a rough game in that one, allowing the Blues to score on three of their five chances with the extra man.

The Islanders are scoring three goals per game this season while allowing opposing teams to score 2.7 goals per game against them. Right wing Kyle Okposo currently has five goals with 19 assists through 27 games. Netminder Jaroslav Halak has won 14 of his 19 starts this season with three shutouts, a .920 save percentage and a 2.26 GAA.

The Wild's offense played well in their game against the Anaheim Ducks last Friday, but their defense and goaltending did not as they ended up losing 5-4 at home. They allowed those five goals despite only giving up 21 shots on goal.

Minnesota's power play has been pretty poor through 25 games, but their penalty kill is one of the best in the league. Winger Zach Parise has 10 goals so far this season and a team-best 21 points. Goalie Darcy Kuemper has an 11-8-0 record with three shutouts, a 2.47 GAA and a .905 save percentage.
