On Friday night, the New York Islanders will be going for their fifth win in a row when they face the Florida Panthers. Last season, the Panthers won two out of their three games against the Islanders.

The Islanders played their best all-around game on Tuesday when they blew out the Colorado Avalanche 6-0 at home. They were clearly the better offensive team that night, outshooting the Avs 46-20.

Through 15 games, the Islanders are near the top of the league in scoring with 3.1 goals per game. Center Brock Nelson has been a surprise contributor for them by scoring seven goals and notching eight assists. Goaltender Jaroslav Halak is now 6-4-0 with two shutouts and a .912 save percentage.

Florida was able to snap their three-game losing skid on Tuesday night by defeating the San Jose Sharks 4-1 on home ice. Goalie Roberto Luongo had a .955 save percentage in that win by stopping 21 of the 22 shots he faced.

That win over the Sharks should help the Panthers' confidence as they have only been able to score 1.8 goals per game so far this season. Their top player has been defenseman Aaron Ekblad, who has one goal and seven assists through 13 games. Scottie Upshall and Brandon Pirri are tied for the team lead in goals with three apiece. Luongo is now 5-3-3 with a 2.19 GAA and a .927 save percentage.
