On Saturday night, New York Islanders will try to get back on the winning track when they visit the Buffalo Sabres. Last season, the Islanders were able to beat the Sabres in two out of their three games against each other.

The Islanders had their four-game winning streak snapped on Tuesday night when the Montreal Canadiens came into town and beat them 3-1. They lost that game despite finishing with a dominant 38-21 shots-on-goal advantage.

The Islanders currently have one of the worst penalty kills in the league, but they are also near the top of the NHL in scoring with 2.9 goals per game. Center Brock Nelson leads the team in scoring with 14 goals, while right wing Kyle Okposo is the team leader in assists with 21.

On Tuesday night, the Sabres lost their fourth game in a row when the Detroit Red Wings beat them 6-3 on the road. The Sabres ended up with just 16 shots on goal in that loss and allowed the Red Wings to score on four of their six power play opportunities.

Through 35 games, the Sabres are at the bottom of the league in both scoring and power play percentage. Goalie Jhonas Enroth has had a decent start to the season by going 10-11-2 with one shutout, a .912 save percentage and a 3.05 GAA in 23 games played.
