Thursday night, the New Jersey Devils will complete a home and home with the St. Louis Blues.

The New Jersey Devils couldn’t get past the hot Blues in the first matchup on Tuesday night and fell 1 - 0.   The teams fought hard for the 1st and 2nd periods and no one could find a way to light the lamp.  Things changed in the 3rd period as the Blues got the lead on a power play goal and that ended up being the decision maker.  The Devils played about as hard as they could in that game but their efforts weren’t enough.   But by playing back to back games like this, New Jersey will be able to quickly look at what worked and what didn’t on Tuesday night and come back with an all new game plan for Thursday.    

The St. Louis Blues got their 6th straight win in that Tuesday night game and will look to extend the streak on their home ice.  That sixth win didn’t come easy though as the Devils put up a lot of resistance.   If not for Vladimir Tarasenko’s 3rd period goal to seal the win for the Blues, the game could have gone either way.  St. Louis did some good things on Tuesday that they will try to repeat on Thursday. They went 1 for 3 on the power play while completely shutting the Devils on their 3 power play opportunities.  St. Louis also won the face-offs battle but they could have used more shots on goal.  Either way, if Thursday’s game is as close as Tuesday’s, it should be very entertaining.
