Tuesday night, the New Jersey Devils will visit the Pittsburgh Penguins

The New Jersey Devils needed an overtime period in their Saturday game against the Ottawa Senators but they came away with a 3 - 2 victory.  The Devils played a solid game but the Senators seemed to be right in step with New Jersey.  After a scoreless 1st period, the Senators opened up the scoring midway through the 2nd period.  But the Devils answered that one goal with 2 of their own and were up 2 -1 headed into the 3rd.  Ottawa got the tying goal that they needed late, but 3:39 into overtime; Jaromir Jagr’s power play goal sealed the win for New Jersey.  New Jersey was outhit, outshot and they gave up 2 goals on Ottawa’s 4 power plays.  They will have to tighten up the penalty kill against a Pittsburgh team that has been lethal on the power play.

The Pittsburgh Penguins avoided a 3 game losing streak by taking a 3 – 0 victory over the Nashville Predators in their last game on Saturday night.   Pittsburgh took a 1 -0 lead in the 1st after Sidney Crosby scored his 5th goal of the season.  They held that lead through a scoreless 2nd period and then added 2 more in the 3rd.  The Pens were 2 of 3 on the power play against a tough Nashville team that is playing better than most expected.  It will be interesting to see how one of the top teams on the power play matches up against one of the better penalty killing units in the NHL.
