On Jan. 7 of this year, the Philadelphia Flyers visited the New Jersey Devils and were able to escape in overtime by a score of 3-2. Adam Henrique got this one started with a goal for the Devils at the 57 second mark of the first period. He was assisted by Jaromir Jagr and Ryane Clowe. At this point, the defense clamped down and there was no scoring in the rest of the first or the entire second period.
Claude Giroux was able to tie the game up with a power play goal at the 5:18 mark of the third period. That was soon followed by a goal for the Flyers by Scott Hartnell who got points in his eighth straight game.
Chances were looking slim for the Devils taking this game to overtime and then Travis Zajac got called for a high stick and put the Flyers on a power play with less than two minutes to go. New Jersey was able to hold off the power play but went shorthanded again when Mark Fayne was called for interference. Michael Ryder was then able to score the shorthanded goal for the Devils and sent this one into overtime.
It was a great comeback but the Flyers were able to pull it out behind Brayden Schenn's goal in the extra period.
