The New Jersey Devils, who have lost four out of their last five games, will be visiting the New York Islanders on Monday night. In their first meeting of the season, the Islanders were able to defeat the Devils 3-1 at home.

The Devils lost their third straight game on Saturday when the Dallas Stars defeated them 4-3 on the road. They did score on one of their two power plays in that loss, but they were also outshot 36-31 and outhit 25-13.

So far this season, the Devils have scored just 2.3 goals per game while allowing their opponents to score 2.8 goals per game against them. Goalie Cory Schneider has an 11-14-3 record this year with a 2.61 GAA and a .916 save percentage.

On Saturday night, the Islanders were able to snap their three-game losing skid when they defeated the Chicago Blackhawks 3-2 at home. They were 1-for-3 on the power play in that win and ended up with a 41-25 shooting advantage.

Through 30 games, the Islanders are near the top of the Eastern Conference in scoring with three goals per game. Right wing Kyle Okposo has had a very good start to the year by notching seven goals and a team-high 20 assists. Netminder Jaroslav Halak has a 15-6-0 record with a three shutouts, a .916 save percentage and a 2.38 GAA.
