The New Jersey Devils will go on the road on Friday night to face the Edmonton Oilers, who will be playing in their fourth of five straight home games. The Devils and the Oilers split their two-game regular season series last year.

On Tuesday night, the Devils couldn't score a goal against the Winnipeg Jets until the third period, but by then it was too late as they ended up losing 3-1 on the road. They did score on one of their two power plays in that game, but they were also outshot 34-22.

The Devils have struggled to score in their first 19 games this season, averaging just 2.4 goals per game. Veteran Patrik Elias has two goals and eight assists so far this year, but he also has a plus/minus of -6.

The Oilers have now lost four consecutive games after losing 5-4 to the Vancouver Canucks on Wednesday night. They were just 1-for-5 on the power play and goalie Ben Scrivens gave up all five goals and finished the game with an .839 save percentage.

Oilers right ring Jordan Eberle is tied for the team lead in points with 13, while left wing Taylor Hall has a team-high seven goals and a plus/minus of +4. Backup netminder Viktor Fasth has struggled in his six starts, going 2-3-1 with a 3.64 GAA and an .885 save percentage.
