There will be no need for hugs and greetings when New Jersey travels to Detroit on Friday night as the two squads just met up for a hard fought battle on Tuesday night. New Jersey was able to cash in at home as -114 favorites and the total of 5 was two goals over with the final score being 4-3.
It took New Jersey only 0:27 to score as Adam Henrique knocked in an unassisted goal. Detroit was able to capitalize on a power play at the 11:26 mark and the 7:03 mark in the second period to take a 2-1 lead into the 3rd. New Jersey dominated the 3rd period almost right off the bat, tying the score at 2 only :41 into the period. The teams swapped goals at the 6:30 and 9:43 mark before Adam Henrique scored his second goal with just :37 remaining to give the Devils an exciting win and setting up Friday's rematch.
It was the 3rd straight up and against the spread win for New Jersey in their last 4 games. They've been patiently waiting for this rematch since Tuesday's game while Detroit has to battle Colorado Thursday. The Devils over has been the smart total play lately as the team has scored 5,6, and 4 in their 3 game win streak to make it 4 straight over totals.
Detroit has been a hit or miss team much of the season and that hasn't changed with a .500 ATS record in their last 10 games. It will be interesting to see how the Red Wings players skate on a back to back game situation, especially against a fresh New Jersey team.
