On Wednesday, the struggling offense of the New Jersey Devils will be visiting the Detroit Red Wings and their highly-rated defense. The Red Wings have been able to win both of their games against the Devils this year.

The Devils were able to snap their three-game losing streak when they picked up a 3-1 win over the Pittsburgh Penguins on Monday night. They were outshot in that game, but they were also able to hold the Penguins goalless on their three power play chances.

The Devils have had one of the better power plays in the Eastern Conference this season, but they are in the bottom 10 in scoring. After scoring a goal on Monday, veteran winger Jaromir Jagr now has six goals and 15 assists in his 37 games.

On Monday night, the Red Wings gave up three first-period goals to the Boston Bruins and were blown out 5-2 on the road. They did win 40 of the 64 faceoffs in that game, but they still ended up being outshot 45-30.

Through 37 games this season, the Red Wings are in the top 10 in the league in goals against, power play percentage and penalty kill percentage. Their top offensive threat this season has been left wing Henrik Zetterberg, who now has eight goals and 24 assists. Goalie Jimmy Howard is now 14-6-7 this year with two shutouts and a .921 save percentage.
