Friday night, the New Jersey Devils will take the ice at the Joe Louis Arena to face the Detroit Red Wings.

The New Jersey Devils will come into Detroit after playing the back end of a home and home with the St. Louis Blues on Thursday night in St. Louis.  With Friday night’s game being the 3rd in 4 nights for the Devils, the team could be a little fatigued as they take on the Red Wings. But Detroit will have to contend with a New Jersey team that has played very well on the road this season.   And even if they are tired, the Devils will be a handful.

The Detroit Red Wings had to play some extra hockey in their Tuesday night game in New York against the Rangers but they fell just short and lost 4 - 3 in overtime.  The Red Wings fell behind 2 – 0 behind Rangers’ goals in the 1st and 2nd periods.  But in the span of 13 seconds, the Devils scored 2 goals to tie things up.  And after New York took the lead midway through the 3rd, Detroit got a Thomas Tatar power play goal with just seconds remaining to send the game into overtime. Overtime only lasted less than 2 minutes because the Rangers ended the game with the overtime goal.  The Red Wings went 2 for 5 on the power play but they allowed the Rangers to go 2 for 3 with the advantage. If they allow New Jersey to dominate on the power play, Detroit will have a hard time getting a win.
