The Nashville Predators will be going on the road on Thursday night to take on the St. Louis Blues in a game that will feature two of the better defenses in the league. Nashville and the Blues played each other last weekend, with the Predators pulling off a 2-1 road win.

On Tuesday night, the Predators were able to score three first-period goals against the Edmonton Oilers and ended up winning 3-2 at home. They were certainly the more aggressive offense in that game, outshooting the Oilers 35-23 on the night.

The Preds have one of the best defenses in the NHL through 15 games by giving up just 1.9 goals per game. Center Filip Forsberg has seven goals, 10 assists and a plus/minus of +17 so far this year. Goalie Pekka Rinne is now 10-2-1 with a shutout and a very solid .934 save percentage.

The Blues played a great all-around game on Tuesday when they blew out the Buffalo Sabres 6-1 on home ice. Their top player in that win was center Jori Lehtera, who had the first hat trick of his career.

Through 15 games, the Blues have the top-rated defense in the league by only giving up 1.9 goals per game. Right wing Vladimir Tarasenko has been their standout player so far this season by accumulating nine goals and 10 assists. Backup goalie Jake Allen is 4-1-0 in five starts with two shouts and a 1.40 GAA.
