On Thursday night, the Nashville Predators will take their highly-ranked defense on the road to face the Ottawa Senators, who have lost four out of their last five games. The Preds beat the Senators 3-2 in their opening game of the season this year.

On Tuesday, the Predators played their best offensive game of the season by blowing out the Toronto Maple Leafs 9-2 on the road. Defenseman was Shea Weber key to that win by assisting on three of the goals and finishing with a plus/minus of +3.

Through their first 18 games, the Predators have only given up two goals per game. Center Filip Forsberg, who had a goal and an assists in that win over the Maple Leafs, now has nine goals and 22 points to lead the Preds.

The Senators have now lost four out of their last five games after suffering a 4-2 loss to the Calgary Flames last Saturday. Their power play was quite poor in that loss, failing to score on all six of their opportunities with the extra man.

Through 17 games, the Senators have scored 2.7 goals per game while giving up 2.5 goals per game. Their best offensive player has been left wing Clarke MacArthur, who has eight goals and five assists so far this season. Netminder Craig Anderson has a 5-3-3 record with two shutouts, a 2.23 GAA and a .935 save percentage.
