The Nashville Predators, who have won three out of their last four games, will be playing against the Minnesota Wild on Saturday night. The Wild were able to win three out of their five games against the Preds a season ago.
The Predators gave up a lead in the third period of their game against the Boston Bruins on Tuesday night, but ended up coming away with a 3-2 win in the shootout. They outshot the Bruins 40-35 in that game, and their penalty kill held them scoreless on all three of their power play opportunities.
So far this season, the Preds have the top defensive team in the league by only giving up 1.9 goals per game. Veteran center Mike Ribeiro has nine goals this season and is second on the team in assists with 17. Goalie Pekka Rinne has won 20 of his 27 starts this year with three shutouts and an excellent 1.76 GAA.
On Wednesday night, the Wild lost their second game in a row when the Boston Bruins beat them 3-2 in overtime. They did look like the better team in that game, though, as they were able to outshoot the Bruins 37-25 on the night.
Through their first 30 games, the Wild have one of the worst power plays in the NHL, but they are in the top five in the league in penalty killing. Left wing Zach Parise has been one of their better players this year by notching 11 goals and 12 assists.
