Wednesday night, the Nashville Predators will journey to the Rexall Place as they take on the Edmonton Oilers.

The Nashville Predators were slowed down by the Pittsburgh Penguins in their last game on Saturday night.  The Predators took a 3 – 0 defeat that was their first loss in regulation this season.  Pittsburgh didn’t waste any time getting on top and that’s where they stayed.  Less than 7 minutes in, the Penguins were up 1 – 0.  Nashville managed to keep that score that way for the rest of the 1st and all of the 2nd.  But the Penguins put up 2 goals in the first 5:25 of the 3rd to seal the victory.  Nashville gave up 2 goals on the 3 Pittsburgh power plays and they lost the face-offs battle 25 – 18.  Nashville should be able to shake off the loss and focus on beating Edmonton, which might not be as easy as expected.   

The Edmonton Oilers looked solid in their 3 - 0 win over the Montreal Canadiens on Monday night.  Edmonton battled for most of the 1st period but a Benoit Pouliot goal at 19:41 gave the Oilers a 1 – 0 lead.  Edmonton didn’t stop there.  The added a goal in the 2nd and one in the 3rd to go up 3 – 0.   And the Oilers added some defense to the mix as well by shutting down the Canadiens on their 4 power play opportunities.  The win extended the win streak to 4 for Edmonton and might have erased the memory of their slow start in the minds of their fans.  The Oilers will need another impressive effort if they want to get past one of the hottest teams in the NHL.
