On Tuesday night, the Nashville Predators will take their impressive defense on the road to face the struggling Colorado Avalanche. Last year, the Avalanche were able to win three out their four games against the Predators.

The Predators didn't score a goal until the third period in their game against the Chicago Blackhawks on Saturday and were beaten 3-1. They did have a 33-31 shooting advantage in that loss, but they lost the faceoff battle 38-30.

Through 26 games, the Predators have one of the best goals against averages in the league by giving up just two goals per game. Center Filip Forsberg has been able to notch 11 goals and 14 assists so far this season, while veteran Mike Ribeiro has 22 points and a plus/minus of +11.

Last Friday, the Avalanche lost their third consecutive game when the Winnipeg Jets easily beat them 6-2 on the road. They did score on one of their four power play chances, but they ended up being outshot 37-22.

The Avalanche are currently in the bottom 10 in the league in goals against by giving up 3.2 goals per game. Defenseman Tyson Barrie has had a very good start to the year by scoring three goals and assisting on 17 others. Goalie Semyon Varlamov is currently 4-6-5 on the year with a 3.21 GAA and a .909 save percentage.
