On Tuesday night, the Nashville Predators will try to win their fifth straight game when they play the Carolina Hurricanes. Last season, the Hurricanes were able to win both of their regular season games against the Predators.

On Saturday, the Predators kept their hot streak going when they defeated the Columbus Blue Jackets 2-1 at home. Their defense was solid in that win, holding the Blue Jackets to just 22 shots on goal.

Through 23 games, the Predators have the top defensive team in the league by only giving up two goals per game. Young center Filip Forsberg has 10 goals and a team-high 23 points so far this season. Netminder Pekka Rinne has also been solid by winning 16 of his 20 starts with a 1.82 GAA and a .933 save percentage.

The Hurricanes have now lost four out of their last five games after losing 3-2 to the Pittsburgh Penguins last Saturday. They lost that game despite going 2-for-6 on the power play and outshooting the Penguins 34-33.

So far this season, the Hurricanes have only been able to score 2.3 goals per game against their opponents. Goalie Cam Ward is 7-8-1 on the season with one shutout, a .907 save percentage and a 2.587 GAA. Left wing Jiri Tlusty has a team-high 10 goals through 23 games, but he also has a plus/minus of -10.
