On Thursday night, the solid defense of the Nashville Predators will be going up against the struggling offense of the Arizona Coyotes. In October, the Predators came away with a 4-3 shootout win over the Coyotes.

The Predators played an excellent all-around game on Tuesday night when they were able to shut out the Colorado Avalanche 3-0 on the road. Goalie Pekka Rinne had a great game in that one, stopping all 26 shots that came his way.

Nashville's defense has been the best in the NHL through 27 games by allowing just two goals per game. Rinne is now 18-5-1 on the year with a 1.81 GAA and a .934 save percentage. Their top offensive player has been young center Filip Forsberg, who currently leads the team in both goals (12) and assists (15).

Last Saturday, the Coyotes lost their third consecutive game when the Boston Bruins touted them 5-2 in Arizona. They were outshot 33-26 in that loss and ended up being outshot 33-26.

The Coyotes have only been able to average 2.3 goals per game this season while giving up 3.2 goals per game. Goalie Mike Smith has a 5-13-2 record this season with a high 3.27 GAA and an .890 save percentage. Center Antoine Vermette has been one of their better offensive players by notching six goals and 12 assists in 28 games.
