When the San Jose Sharks visited the Montreal Canadiens the Sharks were able to walk away winners by a score of 2-1. Logan Couture did all of the scoring for the Sharks but none came easier for him then his second goal of the night. This happened after the puck was dumped in and took an odd bounce and landed on Couture's stick. From that point there was no missing the shot as there was a giant hole to work with.
The Sharks had gone up 1-0 in the second period when the puck was dumped into Montreal's zone by Patrick Marleau. Carey Price attempted to retrieve the puck but was too late and Couture was able to get there. Between that shot and Couture's third period shot, the puck just happened to be bouncing the Sharks way on this night.
Antti Niemi had 22 saves in route to his shutout performance.
It also didn't help the Montreal that they had a bench full of players not participating like Daniel Briere, Max Pacioretty, George Parros, and Brandon Prust.
Over the last four times these two teams have met, the home team walked away a winner three of the four. The 'under' was 3-1 in the last four head-to-head matchups. Since the end of January, Montreal averaging around 27 shots on goal while San Jose is around 34.
