In Game 2 of the Eastern Conference Finals on Monday, the New York Rangers defeated the Montreal Canadiens on the road for the second straight game with their 3-1 victory to take a 2-0 lead in the series. The Canadiens actually had a 41-30 advantage in shots on goal in the game, but they also failed to convert on any of their four power-play opportunities.

Left winger Max Pacioretty scored his fourth goal of the postseason six minutes into the first period with an unassisted tally to give the Canadiens an early 1-0 lead. The Rangers would respond 17 second later, though, when defenseman Ryan McDonagh scored an unassisted goal of his own. New York would grab a 2-1 advantage late in the period when Rick Nash scored his second goal of the playoffs.

The final goal of the game was scored eight minutes into the second period when Martin St. Louis scored a power-play goal to give the Rangers to two-goal win.

McDonagh finished the game with a goal and an assists for the Rangers, while center Derek Stepan had two assists in the win. New York goaltender Henrik Lundqvist had a great game in net by stopping 40 of the Canadiens' 41 shots on goal.

Montreal gave netminder Dustin Tokarski his first playoff start and he did pretty well by stopping 27 of the 30 shots he faced.
