The Montreal Canadiens, who are 7-4-1 on the road this season, will be visiting the Colorado Avalanche on Monday night. In October, the Canadiens defeated the Avs 3-2 on their home ice.

On Saturday night, the Canadiens gave up two third-period goals to the Buffalo Sabres and ended up losing 4-3 to them in the shootout. Montreal were goalless on their two power play opportunities and they scored just two goals on 44 shots.

The Avalanche have now won two out of their last three games after beating the Dallas Stars 5-2 at home on Saturday. They were able to score on two of their seven power plays in that win, and they outshot the Stars 47-24.

Through their first 24 games, the Avalanche have one of the best penalty kills in the NHL, but their defense is also giving up three goals per game. Defenseman Tyson Barrie is having the best offensive season of his career by scoring two goals and racking up a team-high 16 assists.
