Two teams that have lost only 6 times in their last 20 games get together for a surprisingly good late season battle in Chicago on Wednesday. Both the Canadiens and Blackhawks are playing great hockey down the stretch as they surge towards the playoffs. The Canadiens have secured home ice in the first round while Chicago is still fighting to start off the postseason at the United Center.
Montreal will be well rested as they head into the Windy City having three full days off before Wednesday's game. The Canadiens won their 2nd straight game Saturday beating Detroit 5-3 in what turned out to be their 8th victory in 10 games. After the Chicago game Montreal heads home for the last 2 games of the regular season.
Chicago is 2 points behind Colorado for the 4th seed in the Western Conference but has just 3 games remaining. The Blackhawks go on the road for their last two which makes a win Wednesday night on their home ice imperative. Chicago has won three in a row over playoff teams and 6 of 10 overall. They'll also have two days of rest before the Canadiens come to town.
Wednesday's meeting is the second of the year for the two clubs as Montreal defended their home ice in a 2-1 OT win on January 11th. Andrei Markov was the difference maker, lighting the lamp just 1:28 into OT as Canadien backers cashed in their +120 bets.
