On Friday night, the struggling Montreal Canadiens will play in the third of their four-game road trip when they take on the Chicago Blackhawks. In early November, the Blackhawks were able to blow out the Canadiens 5-0 in Montreal.

On Wednesday, the Canadiens picked up their fourth loss in their last five games after being defeated 2-1 by the Minnesota Wild on the road. Montreal had just one power play opportunity in that loss and they finished with just 19 shots on goal.

Through their first 27 games, the Canadiens are in the top 10 in penalty kill percentage by stopping opposing power plays 85.1 percent of the time. Their top offensive performer has been left wing Max Pacioretty, who has scored 12 goals and notched 20 points so far this year. Veteran goalie Carey Price has a 14-6-1 record with two shutouts, a .922 save percentage and a 2.35 GAA.

The Blackhawks scored three goals in the third period in their game against the St. Louis Blues on Wednesday and ended up winning 4-1 at home. Right wing Kris Versteeg was their top player in that win by scoring one goal and providing two assists.

So far this season, the Blackhawks have had one of the best defenses in the NHL by only allowing two goals per game. Right wing Patrick Kane is once again playing like an All-Star by scoring 12 goals and providing 13 assists to his teammates.
