Not long after the Olympics ended, T.J. Oshie got his chance to be a hero again in a shootout as the St. Louis Blues were able to beat the Minnesota Wild 3-2 in a close game the last time they faced each other. Oshie, who made four of his six shootout attempts against the Russians in the Olympics, made his attempt before teammate Alex Steen was able to put the Wild away.
Oshie was also the first player to score in regulation, scoring a power-play goal on the team's second attempt of the game. On the Blues' third shot attempt, Carlo Colaiacovo was able to double the lead with his first tally of the season.
The Wild were able to turn the game around in the second period thanks to Jason Pominville's 23rd goal and Matt Moulson's 18th four minutes later. Getting a point from this game was big for Minnesota because the Blues have one of the best defenses in the league and very rarely give up two-goal leads.
The teams only combined for 31 total shots in three periods and an overtime session. Brian Elliott had 17 saves for the Blues, while Ilya Bryzgalov saved 20 of the 22 shots he faced for Minnesota.
The Blues added to their conference-best record with the win, while Minnesota didn't lose too much ground in their hunt for a playoff spot in the loss.
