Thursday night, the Minnesota Wild will visit the Ottawa Senators.

The Minnesota Wild didn’t look like themselves on Tuesday night as they took a 4 -1 beating from the Pittsburgh Penguins.  It was the first loss at home this season for Minnesota.  Pittsburgh took the lead in the last minute of the 1st period with a goal and just a few minutes into the 2nd, they were up 2 -0.  The lead grew to 3 – 0 before the Wild got their first (and only) goal of the game midway through the 3rd.  Pittsburgh added a late goal to seal the win.   Minnesota outshot Pittsburgh 34 to 22 but they went 0 for 4 on the power play against a tough Pittsburgh penalty killing unit.  The Wild will face another tough penalty killing team in the Ottawa Senators and they might just struggle on the power play again.

The Ottawa Senators mounted a late rally Tuesday night to take a 3 – 1 win over the Detroit Red Wings.  The 1st period was scoreless and the first goal of the game wasn’t scored until Erik Karlsson got a power play goal for the Senators at 14:37 in the 2nd.  The Red Wings tied it up early in the 3rd but the Senators notched 2 goals in the latter stages of the 3rd to pull away for the victory.  The Senators played hard when they needed to and that is the type of play that they should display in their Thursday night meeting with the Wild.
