On Monday night, the Minnesota Wild and their excellent defense will be taking on the New York Rangers. During the 2013-14 season, the Wild and the Rangers picked up a win apiece from their two meetings.

On Saturday, the Wild were able to win their second consecutive game when they blew out the Tampa Bay Lightning 7-2 on home ice. They scored those seven goals despite only getting 22 shots on target in that game.

Wild defenseman Jared Spurgeon has scored two goals and is tied for the team lead in points with eight. Goalie Darcy Kuemper has been excellent in net for Minnesota this season by going 4-1-0 with a 0.81 GAA and a .966 save percentage.

On Saturday night, the Rangers had a hard time getting their shots past Montreal Canadiens goalie Carey Price and ended up losing 3-1 on the road. They had 35 shots in that game and they were 0-for-2 on the power play.

New York currently has one of the worst power plays in the NHL and they have given up over three goals per game. Left wing Rick Nash is near the top of the league in goals with eight and he has a plus/minus of +5. Goaltender Henrik Lundqvist hasn't had the best start to the season, going 4-3-0 through his first seven starts with a 3.14 GAA and an .895 save percentage.
