Saturday night, the Minnesota Wild will make another stop in Canada as they take on the Montreal Canadiens at the Bell Centre.

The Minnesota Wild couldn’t get anything going in their Thursday night game and fell 3 – 0 to the Ottawa Senators.  The teams played a scoreless 1st period but Ottawa got the scoring started in the 2nd with 2 goals in the first 5 minutes of the period.   The 3rd goal in the 3rd sealed the win for Ottawa.  The Wild fell for the 2nd straight time despite outshooting the Senators 35 to 17.  But even with all of those shots, the Wild couldn’t get anything to the back of the net.   As tough as it is to beat the Senators at home, the Wild seemed it make it too easy for Ottawa.  They might not face an easier time of it in Montreal either.

The Montreal Canadiens had been struggling in recent games but they found a way get a 2 -1 win over the Buffalo Sabres on Wednesday night.  The win wasn’t easy though.  The teams played to a scoreless draw after the first two periods.  Just 19 seconds into the 3rd period, P.A. Parenteau put the Canadiens up 1 – 0.   But a few minutes later, the Sabres had tied it up again. A scoreless overtime period led to a shootout and after each team got a goal, Parenteau scored once again to seal the victory.  The win ended a 3 game slide for Montreal and could give them some confidence as they host Minnesota.
