On Sunday afternoon, the Minnesota Wild will play the Los Angeles Kings in a game that will feature two of the better defenses in the league. Last season, Wild won two of their three games against the Kings by a combined score of 7-6.

The Wild gave up two goals in the third period to the Anaheim Ducks on Friday and ended up taking a 2-1 road loss. What really hurt them was their seven penalties, which resulted in 25 penalty minutes.

Through three games, the Wild are number one in the league in goals against per game (0.7) and they still have a perfect penalty kill. Left wing Zach Parise is tied for the team lead in goals with two and leads the team with four points. Goalie Darcy Kuemper has a 0.67 GAA and a .972 save percentage.

In their game against the Blues on Thursday, the Kings blanked the St. Louis Blues in what ended up being a 1-0 shootout win. They won despite being outshot 43-18 and going 0-for-4 on the power play.

The Kings have only scored 2.4 goals per game this season, but they have three wins because they have held opponents to just 1.8 goals per game. Left wing Tanner Pearson has been the best offensive threat for Los Angeles so far by scoring four goals and assisting on two others. Goaltender Jonathan Quick has a 2-2-1 record with a 2.09 GAA and a .944 save percentage.
