The Minnesota Wild and the Colorado Avalanche will play each other for the second time in three days on Saturday night. Colorado dominated the Wild last year, winning four of the five games in their season series.

In that opening game, Minnesota was able to dominate Colorado in just about every facet of the game and came away with a big 5-0 home win. The Wild had 48 shots on the night, while Colorado was only able to put 18 shots on Darcy Kuemper's net. Neither team was able to score a power-play goal in the game, with the Wild going 0-for-2 and the Avalanche going 0-for-4 on their chances.

Right wing Jason Pominville opened the scoring midway through the first period to put the Wild up 1-0. Jared Spurgeon and Zach Parise each had a goal early on in the second period, then Nino Niederreiter and Ryan Suter scored later in the period to seal the win for Minnesota.

Parise had an excellent game for the Wild in the opener by scoring a goal and assisting on two others. Center Mikael Granlund had two assists and a plus-4, while Pominville had a goal and an assist in the win. Goalie Darcy Kuemper finished with a 16-save shutout.

Avalanche netminder Semyon Varlamov stopped just 33 of the 38 shots he faced before being pulled from the game in the third period.
