The Minnesota Wild will certainly have an advantage on Saturday night when their high-rated defense faces the struggling offense of the Arizona Coyotes. In their first game against each other this season, the Wild were able to shut out the Coyotes 2-0 at home.

Against the San Jose Sharks on Thursday night, the Wild found themselves on the defensive end of the ice more than they would have wanted to and ended up losing 2-1. They ended up going 0-for-2 on the power play and ended up being outshot 30-19.

Through 27 games, the Wild have one of the best penalty kills in the NHL by stopping opposing power plays 88.1 percent of the time. Their top goal scorer is right wing Nino Niederreiter, who has 12 goals so far this season. Goalie Darcy Kuemper has won 11 of his 20 starts and has a .906 save percentage.

The Coyotes gave up three early goals to the Nashville Predators on Thursday and were routed 5-1 on the road. They did go 1-for-3 on the power play in that loss, but they were also outshot 38-32.

So far this season, the Coyotes have only averaged 2.2 goals per game while giving up 3.2 goals per game. Defenseman Keith Yandle has three goals this season and leads the team in assists with 17. Netminder Mike Smith is 5-14-2 with no shutouts and a high 3.35 GAA.
