On Tuesday night, the Los Angeles Kings will be playing the St. Louis Blues in a game between two of the better defenses in the Western Conference. In their first game against each other this year, the Kings shut out the Blues 1-0 on home ice.

The Kings have now lost four out of their last five games after losing 4-3 to the Toronto Maple Leafs on the road on Sunday night. They lost that game despite finishing with a 34-28 faceoff advantage and a 36-31 shooting advantage.

Through 31 games, the Kings have done well on defense but have barely been able to average over 2.5 goals per game. Their top scorer is left wing Tanner Pearson, who has scored 11 goals this season.

On Saturday night, the Blues won their fourth game in a row when they beat the Colorado Avalanche 3-2 in overtime on the road. They clearly had the more dominant offense in that win, finishing with a 42-25 shooting advantage.

The Blues currently have one of the best defensive teams in the NHL by allowing just 2.3 goals per game. Right wing Vladimir Tarasenko has had a very good start to the campaign by notching 17 goals and 15 assists in his team's first 30 games. Goalie Jake Allen has a 10-3-1 record this season with two shutouts and a 2.50 GAA.
