The Pittsburgh Penguins were able to beat the Los Angeles Kings 4-1 the last time these two teams met thanks to three early goals from the visitors. Kings goalie Jonathan Quick had one of his toughest periods of the season in this one, which happened to be right before the Olympics were about to begin.

Evgeni Malkin got the scoring started for Pittsburgh just 57 seconds into the contest with his 15th of the season. Anze Kopitar answered with a power-play goal, but Chris Kunitz scored one soon after with a power-play tally of his own. Jussi Jokinen gave the Penguins a 3-1 lead on yet another goal with the extra man. Tanner Glass all but sealed the game up for the Penguins in the middle of the third period with his fourth goal of the season.

Quick saw just seven shots in the game and was only able to stop four of them. Quick was hoping to impress his national team coaches enough to start in the Winter Games, and this was about as bad as it could have gone for him. His replacement, Martin Jones, fared quite a bit better in this game by stopping 14 of the 15 shots he faced.

On the other end of the ice, Pittsburgh's Jeff Zatkoff had a great game. He saved 30 of the 31 shots he saw to help the top team in the East improve to 4-1 in five games.
