Thursday night, the Los Angeles Kings will continue their road trip with a stop at the CONSOL Energy Center to face the Pittsburgh Penguins. 

The Los Angeles Kings were on a roll and that roll was expected to continue with their stop in Philadelphia on Tuesday night.  But things didn’t turn out as expected as the Kings surprisingly fell to the Flyers 3 -2 in overtime. The Flyers scored 1st and after the Kings tied it up, Philadelphia retook the lead late in the period.  The game stayed at 2 -1 through the 2nd period.  But in the 3rd, former Flyer Mike Richards tied it up.  An overtime period was needed but it was a short one. Philadelphia’s Brayden Schenn notched the game winner at 2:36 in overtime.  The short trip to Pittsburgh will give the Kings little time to shake off the loss and they will need all of their time to focus on a Penguins team that will certainly test one of the better defenses in the NHL.

The Pittsburgh Penguins started slow in their Tuesday night game against the New Jersey Devils but they finished strong in the 8 -3 win.  The game was close early on, with the score 1 - 1 after the 1st period.  New Jersey scored twice to start the 2nd and their lead seemed secure.  But it wasn’t.  The Penguins broke the game wide open with 4 goals in the 2nd to take a 5 -3 lead.  Pittsburgh extended the lead with 3 more in the 3rd.  The Penguins will face a top notch Kings defense and they can’t expect to get another offensive explosion like the one they had on Tuesday.
