Steve Mason and Wayne Simmonds helped the Philadelphia Flyers hold off the Los Angeles Kings in their last meeting in a 2-0 win. Mason stopped 35 shots on his way to his 22nd career shutout, and Simmonds scored his 100th career NHL goal in the victory.

Going by the box score alone, it would seem like Los Angeles dominated the Flyers. The Kings had over 20 more shots on goal, more hits, more faceoffs won, and more power play chances. The one huge difference in the game, though, was that Steve Mason was fantastic, and Kings' goalie Jonathan Quick didn't save enough of the few shots that he saw come at him.

After a pretty quiet period which saw both teams fail on their lone power player chances, Simmonds opened the scoring in the middle of the second period off of an assist from Vincent Lecavalier. After an interference call was made on the Kings' Matt Greene late in the third period, Claude Giroux scored the Flyers' second, which all but ended the game. What really hurt the Kings in the game was their inability to get clear shots on the power play and not being able to get close enough to Mason. To the Flyers' credit, they made the most of their limited chances and came away with a tough fought 2-0 win to move up in the standings.
