In Game 2 of the Stanley Cup finals, the Los Angeles Kings were able to come back to beat the New York Rangers 5-4 in two overtimes to take a 2-0 lead in the series.

Rangers defenseman Ryan McDonagh got the scoring started midway through the first period with his fourth goal of the playoffs. The Rangers would then double their lead near the end of the period when right wing Mats Zuccarello was able to put one past Kings netminder Jonathan Quick.

Jarret Stol was able to get one back for the Kings just two minutes into the second period. Martin St. Louis was able to put New York back up by two with a power-play goal at the 11:24 mark, but the Kings got a power-play goal of their own a few minutes later when Willie Mitchell scored his first of the playoffs. Derick Brassard scored 11 seconds later to give the Rangers a 4-2 lead heading into the third period.

In the final period of regulation, Dwight King scored his third of the postseason and then Marian Gaborik scored an unassisted goal later in the period to send the game into overtime.

Willie Mitchell was able to score his second of the game at the 10:26 mark of the second extra period to give the Kings a crucial 2-0 series lead.

Quick faced 38 shots on goal in the game and saved 34 of them. Henrik Lundqvist had 39 saves for the Rangers.
