Los Angeles is a shoe-in for the Western Conference postseason with 18 games left to play but that doesn't mean they can't continue to assert their dominance over last place Edmonton.
The Kings have been one of the NHL's hottest teams both before and after the Olympic break, winning all 6 games between February 6th and March 6th. They've come up big for bettors over that time, posting wins on ML spreads of -148, -137, -185 and -170. Los Angeles will have 3 days of rest before visiting Edmonton and will look to build on the 3-0 victory over the Oilers on December 17th.
It's another depressing season for Oiler fans as Edmonton will miss the playoffs for the 8th straight year. It's been a heck of a free fall since appearing in the Stanley Cup finals in 2006. Oiler fans have enjoyed recent success though, such as wins in the last two games. They look to continue that streak against LA and avoid going 0 for 3 versus the Kings in 2013/14.
The most recent matchup was a dominating 3-0 Kings victory. Los Angeles scored 1 in the 1st and 2 in the 3rd to help bettors cash in on a -200 moneyline. The game was relatively penalty free with only 8 total minutes but the big disparity was LA's 40-24 shots on goal advantage.
The Kings will look to stay hot while Edmonton searches for some way to get an unprecedented 3 game win streak.
