The Chicago Blackhawks were able to win the first game of the Western Conference Finals by beating the Los Angeles Kings 3-1 on home ice. The Blackhawks won despite only getting 20 shots on goal in the game and being outhit by the Kings 34-25.

At the 14:46 mark of the first period, the Blackhawks were able to take the 1-0 lead thanks to a Brandon Saad power-play goal, which came off of assists by Nick Leddy and Marian Hossa. The Kings would tie the game four minutes into the second period when Tyler Toffoli scored his fourth goal of the playoffs, but defenseman Duncan Keith would restore Chicago's lead midway through the period with his third goal of the postseason. Jonathan Toews would get the Blackhawks the all-important insurance goal 16 minutes into the third period to seal the win for the hosts.

Brandon Saad finished with a goal and an assist for the Blackhawks, while Marian Hossa finished with two assists in the win. Chicago goaltender Corey Crawford had a very solid game in net by saving 25 of the 26 shots he faced for a .962 save percentage.

Kings center Jeff Carter had an assist for the visitors and had six shots on goal in the game. Jonathan Quick could only stop 17 of Chicago's 20 shots on goal for an .850 save percentage.
