The highly-ranked defense of the Los Angeles Kings will be going up against the Buffalo Sabres on Tuesday night. In their first meeting of the season, the Kings were able to shut out the Sabres 2-0 at home.

The Kings saw their two-game winning streak come to an end on Saturday when the Philadelphia Flyers beat them 2-1. They did have 38 shots in that game, but they also went 0-for-5 on their power play chances.

Through 27 games, the Kings have one of the best defenses in the league by only allowing 2.1 goals per game. Center Tyler Toffoli is tied for the team lead in goals with 10 and has the most points with 20. Veteran netminder Jonathan Quick is now 11-6-4 with three shutouts, a .931 save percentage and a 2.14 GAA.

In their last game, the Sabres picked up their second loss in a row when the Florida Panthers beat them 3-2 on the road. They couldn't keep the puck in their offensive zone in that loss and ended up being outshot 37-28.

The Sabres' power play has been very poor this season, scoring on just 6.6 percent of their opportunities with the extra man. Goalie Jhonas Enroth has only been able to win six of his first 17 starts and currently owns a 3.08 GAA. Left wing Tyler Ennis has seven goals and leads the team in points with 16.
