In Game 1 of their Western Conference semifinals series with the Anaheim Ducks, the Los Angeles Kings were able to come back and tie it in the third period before scoring the game-winner in overtime. The Ducks were the more aggressive team in the game by outhitting the Kings 54-41, but their inability to score on any of their four power play opportunities came back to bite them.

The Kings got the scoring started in the game when Alec Martinez scored a power-play goal midway through the first period. The Ducks were able to answer less than three minutes later, though, when Matt Beleskey scored off of assists by Ryan Getzlaf and Cam Fowler.

After no goals were scored by either team in the second period, Teemu Selanne was able to put Anaheim up 2-1 eight minutes into the third. It looked like the Ducks would win the game, but Marian Gaborik was able to send it to overtime when he scored his fourth of the playoffs with just seven seconds remaining in the game.

Gaborik would be the hero for Los Angeles again in overtime when he was able to redirect and Anze Kopitar shot that got Ducks' goalie Jonas Hiller.

Gaborik was certainly the top star in the game with his two clutch goals and his assist, but Kopitar was also solid with three assists in the contest. Kings netminder Jonathan Quick had 33 saves in the game and a .943 save percentage.
