Even without Steven Stamkos, the Tampa Bay Lighting were nothing short of a force to be reckoned with the last time these two teams met up. The last time they faced the Florida Panthers they got a goal early in the game on power-play goal by Sean Bergenheim. Just 19 seconds later the game would be tied by Alex Killorn, however. Coming out onto the ice in the second period with the game tied, the Panthers gave Tampa no competition. Scores by Tyler Johnson and Martin St. Louis were added and a key goal by Valtteri Filpuula during a 5-on-3 power-play really put a wedge between the two teams.

In the third period the Panthers looked underpowered, and a lack of effort according to coach Peter Horachek was the problem. In any event the situation was good for J.T. Brown, who added 2 more goals in the third and led the Lighting to a 6-1 win.

Although the Panthers may have been a little worn down by their recent Canada trip, they had a good overall trip, going 3-1 with wins over Montreal, Toronto and Ottawa. The Panthers will probably be looking to capitalize on a Tampa Bay team that will be going into this game on Thursday with a five game losing streak under their belt. And you can probably imagine that Tampa Bay will be playing hard to break that streak.
