On Thursday night, the Florida Panthers will be playing their third of four straight road games when they take on the San Jose Sharks. Last Tuesday, the came away with a dominant 4-1 win over the Sharks at home.

On Tuesday, the Panthers gave up four second-period goals to the Los Angeles Kings and eventually lost 5-2 on the road. They did outshoot the Kings 32-27 in that game, but they also allowed them to convert three of their six power play chances.

The Panthers are currently near the bottom of the league in scoring with just 2.2 goals per game. Defenseman Aaron Ekblad has had a decent start to the year by notching two goals and eight assists through 16 games. Veteran netminder Roberto Luongo is 5-4-4 with one shutout, a .921 save percentage and a 2.45 GAA.

In their game against the Buffalo Sabres on Tuesday, the Sharks gave up three second-period goals and ended up losing 4-1 on the road. San Jose goalie Troy Grosenick struggled in his second NHL game, giving up three goals on just 13 shots faced.

Through 21 games, the Sharks have the seventh-best power play in the league by scoring 23.1 percent of the time with the extra man. Defenseman Brent Burns, who scored the lone goal in that game against the Sabres, now has seven tallies with 11 assists. Starting goalie Antti Niemi is 7-6-1 on the season with one shutout and a .917 save percentage.
