Thursday night, the Florida Panthers will take the ice at the Wells Fargo Center as they face the Philadelphia Flyers. 

The Florida Panthers played a close game with the Boston Bruins on Tuesday night but the ultimately fell 2 -1 in overtime.  The Panthers offense couldn’t get anything going in the 1st period, but fortunately neither could the Bruins. After each team failed to score in the 1st, the Panthers struck first blood with a Jussi Jokinen goal at 4:04 into the 2nd.  Boston answered about 3 minutes later and the score stayed at 1 -1 for the rest of regulation.  Boston got the game winner shortly into overtime.  The Panthers have played the fewest games so far in the NHL but they haven’t look that great in most of them.  They will have to expect a challenge from a Flyers team struggling to find some respectability.

The Philadelphia Flyers looked solid on Tuesday night as they easily handled the Edmonton Oilers en route to a 4 -1 victory.  The Flyers got on the board early thanks to a Jakub Voracek goal about 4 minutes in.  Voracek added a 2nd goal in the 1st to put the Flyers up 2 - 0.  And after the lead swelled to 3 - 0 early in the 2nd, the Oilers cut it to 3 -1.  But the Flyers added a Luke Schenn goal at 12:01 in the 2nd and the 4 -1 lead held up the rest of the way.  The Flyers have picked up the effort in recent games and will try to build something by picking up a win over the Panthers.
